At the end of the summer of 2020, our little buddy was supposed to start kindergarten.
However, the public school in his district was doing distance learning and requiring 5-year-olds to “go to school” in front of a computer for 6 hours a day.
We just weren’t on board with that.
By the grace of God (and a childhood friend), we found a small private Christian school with two openings left. Within a week, we toured, enrolled, and school started.
At that same time, our condo was for sale, and our hope for a buyer was waning.
The first week of school, Asher was assigned an at-home project; a (very short) report on the Pileated Woodpecker. Pretty sure we had no idea what that was, let alone ever saw one.
The second week of school, we sold our loft and made an offer on our home.
Imagine our surprise, when we moved to the country a month and a half later, and was greeted by not one but two huge Pileated Woodpeckers.
Now, when I see them, I pause and give thanks to God and reflect on this verse:
“Therefore, I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink, or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store food away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying, add a single hour to your life?” ~ Matthew 6:25-27
