Our morning routine includes, coffee, cards, and feeding the deer. Tom and I sit at our game table overlooking the woods and play.
Right now, our game of choice is Rummy 500.
At the first sight of movement on the trail, Tom (and sometimes our little buddy) goes down with a bucket of corn.
I don’t usually go with him to feed the deer. However, as they are getting closer and closer to eating out of his hand, I have started to follow behind with my video camera.
Because you know, the one time I don’t will be the time they do.
On this morning, there was the usual crew of a doe and two fawns waiting to be fed.
Shortly after the corn was down more deer came for a total of nine. Seven before my camera battery died.
We are approaching our one year anniversary of living in the woods. The deer welcomed us on our very first night and they have come to visit us every single day since.
“As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, my God.” ~Psalms 42:1
P.S. The doe and two fawns pictured above are in the video. This photo was taken in early August when the fawns still had their spots and summer coat. They were so so cute.
